NRI-PIS Account
We have tie-up with private banks to facilitate NRI investment
For NRI Client following is the procedure for opening an account.
NRI – PIS Account – Procedure
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) are allowed to invest in secondary capital markets in India through the portfolio investment scheme (PIS). Under this scheme, NRIs can acquire shares/debentures of Indian companies through the stock exchanges in India. NRIs should approach AD Category –I bank to administer the Portfolio Investment Scheme for routing investments through a designated PIS Account.
NRI’s required to open the following accounts under Rapatriable (NRE) or Non-Repatriable (NRO) categories:-
1. SB Account for routing Primary Market Transactions (NRE/NRO)
2. PIS Account for routing Secondary Market Transactions (NRE/NRO)
3. Demat Account (NRE/NRO)
4. Trading Account (NRE/NRO)
NRI Customers to submit PIS Account Opening Form to a designated branch of Authorised Dealers with/without repatriation benefits. Bank on satisfying KYC and other documents will open PIS Account and Issue PIS Permission on behalf of the RBI. NRI’s are allowed to deal with one designated branch/bank under Portfolio Investment Scheme(PIS)
The equity shares and convertible debentures of the companies within the prescribed ceilings are available for purchase under PIS subject to:
– the total purchase of all NRIs/PIOs both, on repatriation and non-repatriation basis, being within an overall ceiling limit of (a) 24 percent of the company’s total paid-up equity capital and (b) 24 percent of the total paid-up value of each series of convertible debenture; and
– the investment made on a repatriation basis by any single NRI/PIO in the equity shares and convertible debentures not exceeding five percent of the paid-up equity capital of the company or five percent of the total paid-up value of each series of convertible debentures issued by the company.
